No More Phone Books?
By WBNG News, Story Created: May 10, 2010 at 5:06 AM EDT
Verizon is asking New York State for permission to stop automatic delivery of White Pages. The company says it could save 5,000 tons of paper a year by not delivering phone books to people who don't want them. It's currently required by the state to distribute White Pages to all customers. But Verizon cites surveys showing the vast majority of people don't use them anymore, opting instead to look up numbers online. If the state approves Verizon's request, people who do want a copy of the White Pages can still ask for one, either in book form or on a CD.

The days of Phone Books are over!  It’s not just NY. The request has been made in NJ and assorted surrounding states. It’s already in place in parts of GA. We all knew this day was coming, just wondered why it took so long.

If your shop doesn’t have internet presence, how will your customers find you? If you are not online, or lost in the huge internet black hole, no better time than now. Join ConsignmentShops.com for as little as $25 per year (MUCH LESS THAN THE PHONE BOOK) and be found when shoppers go searching online for consignment.  ConsignmentShops.com helps to drive the customers into your shop with the convenience of having all shops listed under one ConsignmentShops.com umbrella. Small shops and BIG SHOPS should take advantage of the great advertising opportunities that come with being part of the ConsignmentShops.com family.  How often is your shop listed in Major National Magazines and Newspapers?  ConsignmentShops.com has been listed in many – The Wall Street Journal, Woman’s Day, Modern Bride, and that’s a small sampling.  Our appearance, in print and on TV, results in their viewership visiting our site and clicking on shops all over the country.
